This week expanded Copilot governance, simplified the Microsoft 365 Copilot app experience, and improved admin control over where apps and agents appear.

Microsoft Purview Data Lifecycle Management retention policies will now cover Copilot interactions across all supported Copilot apps in your tenant. This closes potential retention gaps for Copilot-generated content and improves compliance consistency. Review existing retention settings and validate they apply as intended to Copilot content across apps.

Microsoft is changing how the Microsoft 365 Copilot service plan determines which Copilot experiences licensed users receive (Premium vs Basic/Copilot Chat). Microsoft is rolling out unified policies to manage app and agent availability across Teams Admin Center and Microsoft 365 Admin Center to reduce mismatches. The Microsoft 365 Copilot app is rolling out an updated experience that is chat-centered and enabled by default. Teams will add an in-meeting control for organizers and presenters to toggle Meeting AI features (including Copilot, Facilitator, and recap) during a live meeting. Copilot Notebooks on Windows will support capturing audio, images, and notes together and using Copilot to generate structured outputs like summaries and action items. Learning Agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot is moving to general availability to support AI upskilling and reskilling in the flow of work. Microsoft is adding a usage report for Copilot connectors in the Microsoft 365 admin center. This helps admins understand adoption and usage patterns of connectors across Copilot entry points. PowerPoint is improving on-brand creation by enabling users to access brand assets and select brand kits when generating content with Copilot.
